About the Designer

Almost before she could talk, Linda Lyon was accessorizing. Gloves, a hat and a purse to match her dress were mandatory accoutrements before she would be seen in public. Perhaps, like red hair, fashion sense skips a generation. Linda's Grandpa Louis, a quiet, gentle man, had been a designer in Paris before settling down to a career as a butcher in Chicago.

Linda followed a roundabout path before returning to her grandfather's first industry. After graduating with a degree in Psychology, she was a product placement specialist for Warner Bros. Studios, an event planner, a film festival coordinator for the American Film Institute, the sole employee of a non-profit pediatric cancer research charity, and an advertising account executive.

During a short break from the ad biz to get married in 1996, Linda had an epiphany: what she most wanted to do was make hats. She quit her job and started a millinery career making custom headwear for theater and film. In 1999 she developed a line of hats and bridal veils for her company, Hatbox.

All of Linda's hats are made by hand with the finest millinery techniques. The styles are timeless. The designs combine the contemporary with the classic.
