Why Hatbox

Hatbox's hats and bridal veils are made entirely by hand using traditional millinery techniques. Hatbox's hats are "blocked" (shaped) by hand instead of by a mechanical press, which allows the designer to create an extensive variety of styles as well as one-of-a-kind designs. The variety of shapes and styles allows for everyone to find a favorite. Both traditional and non-traditional silhouettes have a classic beauty that flatters the wearer. Hatbox hats and bridal veils are made to be worn and look even better on the wearer than off.

Even when a style is replicated, no two will be exactly alike. Hatbox's creations are sewn by hand so that all the stitches are hidden and no glue is used. Many other companies glue their bridal headpieces together and glue trim on their hats. Because we sew every pearl and bow in place, our creations will not fall apart with one wearing and will last for generations.

Most hat companies, even those claiming that their product is handmade, will use a machine to sew the edge of the brim or the band inside the crown, leaving obvious stitches that detract from the beauty of the hat. By carefully placing each stitch by hand, the sewn areas of Hatbox's hats show only the elegance of the hat without the stitches.

All of our styles are named after classic films, the main inspiration for our designer, Linda Lyon. Her designs are captivating, reminiscent of images from the past, of a bygone era, of black and white films filled with shadow and soft light; images of sophistication and elegance.
